Silicone Coaster Mould – Geode Coaster
This silicone mould can be used for casting with various materials like Casting Resins, Polymer Clays and Plaster of Paris.
If using Casting Resins, mix them well to remove as many air bubbles as possible then pour the resin slowly , ensuring it reaches all areas. Tap the mould gently on a flat surface to release any trapped air (ideally use a Handheld Blow Torch to remove any remaining air bubbles).
You may add Resin Pigments, Mica Glitters, and inclusions like dried flowers or Metallic Foil Flakes for additional detail.
For Polymer Clays such as Das or FIMO, knead the clay until it becomes malleable. Press it evenly into the mould, carefully avoiding air pockets. Once the clay cures or bakes, flex the mould gently to release the pieces without distorting them.
After removing the pieces, sand or polish them to achieve a refined finish. Clean the moulds with warm water and mild soap to keep them in excellent condition for future projects.
Overall, silicone moulds offer jewellery makers the versatility to produce customised pieces efficiently, opening up a wide range of creative possibilities. Finally, remember to store the moulds properly to ensure their longevity and maintain their quality.
