OX GALL LIQUID – WINSOR & NEWTON
Ox gall is a wetting agent used in watercolor painting. It enhances the flow of watercolors, reduces surface tension, and helps achieve smoother washes.
It’s particularly useful when you want your paint to glide effortlessly across the paper.
- Mixing with Paint:
- Add a few drops of ox gall to your watercolor palette. Start with a small amount—you can always adjust later.
- Mix it with your chosen pigment. The ox gall will improve the flow and wetting properties of the paint.
- Experiment with different ratios to find what works best for your style.
- Wetting the Paper:
- Wet your watercolor paper using a brush or spray bottle.
- Add a touch of ox gall to the water. This helps create a smooth surface for your paint.
