Description
KRISTAL UV™ is a 1-part UV curable clear resin and can be used for a number of small casting type applications including jewellery making, art, doming and rapid positioning of electrical components. It has good adhesion to ceramics, glass, metal, stone and some hard plastics. The cured resin has good optical transparency and is UV resistant.
Physical Properties
KRISTAL UV is a colourless clear liquid with the following properties:
- Viscosity – 3000 to 4000 cps
- Tensile Strength – 2100 psi
- Modulus – 29678 psi
- Elongation at break – 156%
- Hardness – 85D Shore
- Shrinkage – 0.01%
- Curing Energy – 36 Watt UV Lamp 2 to 4 minutes, Full sun 5 – 10 minutes, Partial Sun/Overcast 20 – 40 minutes.
Safety and Handling
These resin systems are chemicals and the below safety precautions should be practised when using these materials.
- Work in an environment with adequate ventilation and avoid breathing fumes (a NIOSH approved respirator is recommended)
- Use protective Nitrile gloves to avoid skin contact
- Barrier creams can also be used to minimise skin contact
- If accidental skin contact occurs, use soap and water or hand cleaner to wash hands (never use solvents)
- DO NOT INGEST – If accidentally ingested, do not induce vomiting, stay calm and seek medical attention.
Always
Wear appropriate safety gear and dust mask when sanding and polishing cured resin.
