Ferrite Disc Magnets are low cost and provide corrosion-free performance that lasts. Their popularity stems from these outstanding characteristics. Made from iron oxides, ferrite magnets are resistant to corrosion when exposed to water, making them virtually corrosion-proof. When properly maintained, they can often outlast many other products.
These magnets are also resistant to chemical damage from a variety of alkaline solutions, dilute acids, organic solvents and certain hydroxides. They perform excellently in saltwater environments, with no corrosion concerns.
While ferrite magnets typically do not require any coating, they may be coated in specific applications where ferrite surface dust is not wanted. For example, medical applications may require a coating to keep the surface clean.
Ferrite magnets naturally have a dark grey colour. Often compared to the shade of “pencil lead”.
Ferrite Disc Magnets are made up of of Barium or Strontium Ferrite. This class of magnet has a good resistance to demagnetization. They can be used at fairly high temperatures (maximum of +180 degrees Celsius), although their magnetic properties drop with temperature.
