Howlite White Small Tumbled Stones
Howlite is a is a borate mineral found in evaporite deposits. It is calcium borosilicate hydroxide (Ca2B5SiO9(OH)5).
Howlite stones are fairly porous which makes them relatively easy to dye into various colours. Fake stones of various types are often coloured Howlite.
These stones have been fully tumbled to develop a smooth polished finish.
Description of Howlite White
These are opaque stones that are predominantly white. Most stones contain some greyish flecks but this does not detract from overall white appearance.
Howlite does not develop as high a gloss finish during processing as most other stones. The finish is best described as “satin”.
