Use brown gum tape to stretch watercolor paper for a smooth, secure surface. To apply, lightly wet the gummed tape with a sponge or brush. Avoid soaking it to prevent washing away the adhesive. Place the tape along all four edges of the watercolor paper, covering about 1cm of the paper, and let it dry overnight.
This tape is a favorite among watercolor artists and printmakers for its strong hold on dampened paper. Simply cut or tear the tape to the desired length, wet the shiny side, and apply it like regular tape. Unlike regular tape though, this tape adheres tightly and won’t remove easily, ensuring your paper stays in place until your artwork is complete.
