Pilot Hi-Tec pens have a unique stainless steel tip that uses 3 or 4 dimples to support the ball. In previously used systems the tip was hollowed out to support the ball .
The advantage of the ball being supported by these dimples is that the wear surface is reduced and the ball has a much smoother rotation.
